Santoprene is a high performance thermoplastic created by cross linking EPDM rubber with Polypropylene. As an elastomer plastic it is flexible, light weight, and has very good abrasion resistance. It also has good resistance to many acids, bases and aqueous solutions. It holds up well in both extreme hot and cold environments which can make it preferred over rubber. Common uses include: grips, knobs, handles, gaskets, and ball check valves. Santoprene is available in hardness ranging from 35 Shore A to 60 Shore D. Our 40D grade is slightly harder than the 87A grade and is generally available in red color. This grade is not FDA compliant.
